Schalke winger Rabbi Matondo’s release clause stands at €60m, this clause applies to English clubs. Man United have identified Wales international as an alternative target to Jadon Sancho. It’s added that the Red Devils see the 19-year-old forward as a ‘low-risk’ buy, like current attacker Dan James.

Both Rabbi and Jadon spent time in rivals Man City’s academy before moving to Bundesliga to kickstart their professional careers by getting regular first-team football under their belts. Amid lightning-fast Rabbi’s release clause standing at €60m, Man United are confident that they can sign the winger for ‘much lower’ than this fee.

The report adds that Bundesliga giants are expected to sell some first-team footballers in the next transfer window as they look to raise funds following the financial impact that the covid-19 pandemic has had on them.

The Welsh attacker first hit the headlines in late 2018 when the forward was the fastest footballer at Man City, Rabbi beat Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker and Leroy Sane’s time a 20m sprint test.

Daniel James has already proved that his electric pace can be dangerous in a Red Devils side that are dangerous on the counter-attack, Rabbi could be a similar signing for Man United. Matondo joined the Miners last winter, and he’s since gone on to play 20 Bundesliga games, scoring one goal.

Rabbi’s versatility could also make him an acceptable option for Man United, the Welsh winger can play on either wing, only behind the striker or even as a centre-forward. At times when Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been unavailable this campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has deployed Dan James in a central attacking role.
