Red Devils are reportedly the latest club in the running alongside Blues for the possible transfer of Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz. The 21-year-old attacker is one of Europe’s most exciting young talents and has been the subject of much recent speculation, with the latest report suggesting Man United are also one of his suitors.

The report states Blues still seems the favourites to land the £90m-rated teenager, but that the Red Devils are also looking at him as an option to bolster in the front-line. However, that Red Devils priority is still Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho, who is another elite young talent impressing in the Bundesliga.

Kai could be a good alternative, however, with the playmaker capable of playing a variety of playmaker roles, either as a number ten or out wide, and perhaps even upfront as a false nine. Man United have struggled for consistency this season and that could see them narrowly miss out on a top-four spot.

It looks clear more strengthening is needed at Theatre of Dreams, and Germany international would do nicely as someone to add a bit of spark for Red Devils in the final third. However, Man United and Borussia Dortmund are some way off in their valuations of the 20-year-old winger so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to look at alternatives.

The Bundesliga club have slapped a £115m price tag on Jadon Sancho but the Red Devils are unwilling to spend more than £50m. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has made the German playmaker his priority after already capturing Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
