Red Devils are reportedly lining up a possible transfer swoop for Leicester City shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel this summer in a shock move. Man United face a tricky transfer window with regards to their goalkeeping situation, with the long-serving de Gea looking past his best after several glaring individual errors throughout the 2019/20 season.

However, Red Devils also have talented teenager Dean Henderson coming through after a fantastic loan spell at Sheffield United, though it may be a bit too soon to promote him to be No.1 for such a big club. As such, it looks the Norwegian is considering a short-term option to plug that gap, with Denmark international being eyed up.

Schmeichel is an experienced performer at this level, having shone for Foxes for several years now, while he’s also notably the son of Man United legend Peter Schmeichel. Kasper could be the perfect addition to come in as the first choice for a year or two before Dean Henderson then gets the nod as No.1.

The Danish goalkeeper played a key role in the club’s run to Premier League glory in 2015-16 and also starred in their fantastic Champions League season the following campaign.

It stays to be seen, however, if the young goalkeeper will respond well to a move like this, with Dean arguably already showing he deserves a little more faith from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Dean Henderson may well get more game time at another big club, with he recently linked as a top target for Chelsea.
