After a period of what would appear to be intense unhappiness, it finally looks as though Gareth Bale might be on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu. Wales international had been subjected to ridicule by Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane, but he has responded in kind when the need has arrived.

Red Devils even had the unedifying sight recently of when Gareth was being used as a substitute, and he appeared to fall asleep under his covid-19 mask. It’s a ‘tit for tat’ scenario where the only loser is the Los Blancos.

Had Zizou decided to play him recently, Bale would know that Rea Madrid with the forward in it was much better prepared in an attacking sense than one without him. That would appear to be water under the bridge now, however, as Florentino Perez will bite the bullet and allow the Welsh winger to walk away for a relative bargain fee of £22m.

At that price, both Red Devils and Spurs need to stay interested, with a view to bringing him back to the PL before the end of the current transfer window.

Man United have been strongly linked with the 31-year-old, they are desperate to add to their right-wing options and negotiations with Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho have seemingly hit an impasse.

Jose Mourinho at Tottenham, meanwhile, is said to hold “real interest” in bringing Gareth back to London and the prospect of having to fork out for only half his wages might well become an attractive prospect for them.
