Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown says he’s hoping to see young English pair Jadon Sancho and Dean Henderson at the club and battling for places in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s senior team next season.
The Red Devils identified Sancho as their No.1 transfer target at the start of the summer and the 20-year-old Englishman has agreed personal terms over a transfer to Old Trafford.
However, Borussia Dortmund have been playing hardball over Jadon’s price and United missed their August 5 deadline to cough up £108 million for the attacker.
Jadon has since flown out to Bad Ragaz, Switzerland with the rest of BVB’s squad for pre-season training and the club’s chief, Michael Zorc, appeared to rule out a summer sale earlier this month.
But ex-United star Brown is hopeful his former team can still get a deal over the line for the player.
‘We’ve got some young, exciting attacking players but Sancho would be another layer of the cake,’ Wes told Sky Sports.
‘He’s exciting, he’s young, he can score goals and is good with assists. If they can get that done it would be perfect.
‘United can always improve. The defence, midfield; the more competition going on all over the field, the better the team becomes.’
Dean confirmed his return to Old Trafford this week after an impressive two-year loan sint with Sheffield United but it’s not yet known whether Ole has plans for the goalkeeper ahead of the new campaign.
David de Gea’s form dipped dramatically across the 2019/20 term and Brown feels Henderson could push the Spaniard for the number one jersey.
