Manchester United could reportedly attempt to secure services of Leicester City stopper Kasper Schmeichel during the current summer transfer window.
David de Gea stays as the club’s number one keeper, however, the Spain international has seen his form dip over the last year, and he has made some high-profile mistakes in the recent weeks before the end of the 2019/20 season.
Dean Henderson is set to return to Old Trafford in the summer following a loan spell at Sheffield United, however, according to The Sun, the 20-times English champions are weighing up a move for the Danish stopper.
The 33-year-old, who has a deal at the King Power Stadium until June 2023, has kept 14 clean sheets in 44 games for the Brendan Rodger’s side during the 2019-20 season.
The Denmark international, who is the son of the Red Devils legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, came through the youth system at Etihad Stadium, however, only made 10 first-team games for the Citizens before moving on.
Schmeichel would represent a cheaper alternative to Atletico Madrid’s stopper Jan Oblak, who will allegedly not be allowed to depart from the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer for less than his £109m release clause.
