Man Utd flop has agreed personal terms for permanent move to European giant

Manchester United might finally have seen the back of Alexis Sanchez this summer.

The former Arsenal winger, who was signed in January 2018 and handed the iconic number 7 jersey, will go down as one of the worst signings in Premier League history.

For whatever reason, Sanchez was unable to replicate the brilliant form that he showed during his time with Udinese, Barcelona and at the Emirates Stadium.

Sanchez’s Man Utd struggles

Instead, the Chilean scored a mere five goals across 45 appearances for the club, looking a shell of the player who was internationally revered for his bulldog-like spirit and work rate.

And the situation was compounded by the fact United had made him the Premier League’s highest-paid player with a mind-blowing wage that reportedly totalled £500,000-a-week.

Nevertheless, his performances were so poor that it prompted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to send him out on loan after 18 months with Inter Milan proving the club of choice.

Sanchez joined the likes of Ashley Young, Victor Moses, Christian Eriksen and Romelu Lukaku in something of a Premier League exodus to Antonio Conte’s squad.

And almost a year down the line, it seems as though Inter are ready to make the deal permanent and bring an end to one of the biggest farces in United’s recent history.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday night that personal teams had been agreed for Sanchez to become an Inter player full-time, thus ending his spell at Old Trafford.

Romano tweeted: “Inter and Manchester United are now close to find an agreement for Alexis Sanchez. Inter will buy him on a permanent deal. Last details to be completed soon. Personal terms already agreed.”

It’s news that has been greeted with delight by United fans, especially considering Solskjaer caught everybody off guard earlier in the year by suggesting Sanchez could be given a second chance.

And it’s a deal that makes sense for Inter who have been rewarded for their patience after Sanchez looked to have picked up from where he left off with injuries troubles and an early red card.

But his form since lockdown has been phenomenal with seven assists and three goals during a 10-game period. You can even check out his recent highlights here to see his transformation.
