Manchester United have moved ahead of fellow interested clubs in making a bid for Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa, claims one report from Italy.
It’s been another fruitful individual season for the forward, who registered ten goals in all competitions for the second campaign running; Federico’s nine league assists were also a club high.
So good in fact that he is being tracked by Serie A big boys Juventus and Inter, speculation that has been prevalent pretty much continuously since Federico burst onto the scene on the opening day of the 2016/17 term.
In spite of all that, Italian publication La Nazione has stated that United are moving ahead of the pack, so much so that they have lodged a bid worth €55 million for the 22-year-old Italy international.
It’s no secret that the United board are eyeing up reinforcements in the current transfer market, with a pursuit of the England attacker Jadon Sancho – as revealed by 90minback nearly a year ago – having been ongoing for a while.
Recent speculation has potentially thrown a spanner in that move, with some suggestions being that the club will refuse to be held ransom over the sum and wage demands, therefore they may look somewhere else this summer.
Federico is a superb talent, and while he fits the age bracket that the club are after, their preference has always been towards British stars, something Ole Gunner Solskjaer has stated in the past. Jadon remains the priority.
