Manchester United are in discussions over offering playmaker Bruno Fernandes an improved deal just over a year after the Portugal international arrived at the Old Trafford side, according to a recent report by The Athletic.

Bruno has had a big impact at Manchester United since he signed for the club from Sporting CP in the final days of the winter transfer market last year.

He has netted 29 goals and provided 20 assists for his team-mates in 54 games for the club since arriving at the club and is the talisman of the Norwegian tactician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Bruno is Manchester United’s top scorer this campaign with 17 goals and is undoubtedly the most influential figure on the pitch at the moment.

Fernandes is on a contract worth £100,000-a-week, which is far away from the United’s top earners such as Paul Pogba and David de Gea.

Manchester United senior figures are now considering offering the player a contract in line with his importance to the club.

They started to talk internally about improving Bruno’s wages in November, just ten months after the attacking midfielder arrived at Manchester United.

The Red Devils are now in talks with his agents over putting him on a better contract in line with his showings over the last year.

Bruno is unlikely to reach the top bracket of earners just yet but the Portuguese is likely to be put on the next rung of deals at Old Trafford.
