Manchester United are reportedly interested in parting ways with Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero at the beginning of 2021.

In spite of both players entering the final year of their respective deals earlier in 2020, the Red Devils were unable to attract a suitable offer for their services during the summer transfer market.

However, according to a report by The Athletic, chief executive Ed Woodward is planning to get the Argentine pair off the wage bill as soon as possible.

The report adds that Rojo would prefer to join another Premier League club, rather than entertain two proposals which have arrived from Spain.

His last Manchester United appearance came as a late substitute in a 3-1 win against Brighton and Hove Albion back in November 2019, and Marcos has only played a full match since then as a loan to the Argentinian outfit Estudiantes was hampered by injury and the coronavirus outbreak.

Nevertheless, a La Liga outfit is said to be a realistic option for Sergio, who is eager to earn senior team football after dropping to the third choice in the pecking order at United.

He has been out on the fringes ever since youngster Dean Henderson returned to United during the summer, and after being priced out of a move away back then, the South American now appears close to a temporary exit.

The board has the option to extend both stars’ lucrative contracts at the end of the campaign, but with neither looking like parts of the future at the club, fans may prefer to see their favourite club simply cut ties and walk away.
