Man Utd keen to bolster squad by landing Leicester starlet

Manchester United are keeping tabs on the English forward Harvey Barnes, with the Leicester star eyed as a potential alternative to long-term attacking target Jadon Sancho, The Sun reports.

There is no shying away from the fact that the Red Devils have been pursuing Jadon Sancho aggressively, with the Borussia Dortmund ace viewed as a priority addition to the squad.

The Old Trafford outfit failed to convince BVB to part ways with Sancho in the summer and with the club unwilling to go over the board with their spending, Jadon might not be a realistic target anymore.

The report, thus, iterates that the 20-times English champions are scouring for an alternative, with the Foxes’ Harvey Barnes emerging as a credible option.

There might be an argument that the Red Devils do not need to pursue him or Jadon after Amad Traore arrives from Atalanta in January.

Traore, along with Facundo Pellistri, who has been settling in well in the U23s for the club, might well be able to fill the void on the right.

However, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might view the need to fill the void as an immediate one, having struggled to find any of the current variants within the squad consistent enough so far.

This would make a good argument in favour of pursuing another winger in Harvey.

Harvey Barnes came through the Foxes’ academy setup and managed to make a mark in the first team for the Foxes in 2019 after a couple of promising loan stints elsewhere.
