Manchester United are reportedly “very close” to securing a £71million summer transfer deal for Saul Niguez.

The transfer window is still a few months away and there is still alot of football to be played before players can be signed, but that has not stopped speculation in the media linking the Red Devils with a number of possible signings.

And one man that has been constantly linked with a move to Old Trafford, is that of Niguez, who is regarded as one of the finest midfielders in Europe right now and is valued at over £120 million.

United are massive fans, and are keen to make sure that they land the type of players it would take to get back challenging for that Premier League title at the end of the season.

Reports from across Europe have now claimed Manchester United are close to completing the deal despite interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, with reports on the SUN claiming that he will make the move to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at the end of the season.

Niguez has a huge £130million release clause as part of his contract with Atletico Madrid, But due to a financial meltdown caused by the coronavirus, they are prepared to take just accept just over half of that.

The Red Devils are said to see the Atletico Madrid star as the ideal replacement for wantaway Paul Pogba, and the coronavirus pandemic could mean they could pick him up for significantly less than first thought.

Niguez is just the type of player that United need to bolster their world class numbers, he is brilliant on and off the field. But considering the coronavirus is hitting clubs hard, it could be a massive shock to see the Red Devils pay such an amount for this man and then improve other areas of the pitch.

But saying that, Niguez would be a special signing that would bring something United have been missing, some superstar quality in midfield, and would also send that statement to the rest of the League that Manchester United are back to challenge.

So if the reports are true and Manchester United are closing in on a transfer deal for Niguez, he would be a very special signing for Solskjaer and the kind that will send a statement to the rest of the Premier League
