According to the latest reports, Manchester United have identified a shock potential candidate to finally replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

Few players leave such indelible marks. Few players’ memory lingers in the minds of the fans for over a decade after their departure. Those players are rare with often ethereal abilities. Even at an illustrious club like Manchester United only a few players have had made such an extreme impression.

Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the best players to have played for United. He’s one of the best players to have played the sport period.

It all begun in an idyllic fashion at Old Trafford. Ronaldo honed his skills at the club and fans watched him grow into the superstar he ultimately became. Perhaps it is why the Portuguese superstar is remembered so fondly by the Stretford End.

The yearning for someone of his ilk is yet to be satisfied.

For over a decade now, the Red Devils have tried time and time again to replace the Portuguese star with no avail.

First it was Wilfried Zaha, then Angel Di Maria and most recently Alexis Sanchez. But the trio were all calamitous flops and none of them came even close to erasing the memory of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Things seem to be changing for the better however. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to rekindle the philosophies of old at United and it seems he has identified four candidates to be the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous number seven shirt.

The Manchester Evening News claims that the four candidates United have identified as Cristiano Ronaldo’s successors are Hannibal Mejbri, Jack Grealish, Jadon Sancho or rather surprisingly Alexis Sanchez.

The latter will be a shock name, but the report claims many at United back Sanchez to come back ‘refreshed’ following his loan spell.
