Red Devils and other top clubs could reportedly be set to miss out on the transfer of Ben White. Despite his fantastic form on loan at Leeds United last campaign, it seems like the 22-year-old centre-back is closing in on signing a new long-term deal with parent club Brighton.

Ben showed many promises at Leeds the last term, with it prompted the newly-promoted side to make three bids in an attempt to sign him permanently this summer. The Red Devils could do with a new defender and have also been linked with White in a possible £50m move.

It seems like Man United will be disappointed, however, with Ben perhaps set to make the somewhat shock move to commit his future to Brighton. If this does end up going through, it could be huge for Brighton, who surely won’t have fancied their opportunities of getting to see much of Ben in action after his form attracted so many suitors.

Man United may have to look elsewhere for a top signing in back-line and have also been linked with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano. The Seagulls have been trying to tie the English centre-back down to fresh terms, with two campaigns plus the option of a third remaining on his current deal.

Peacocks were unsuccessful with an initial £19m offer for White, and then had two further bids of £22m and £25m turned down by Brighton. Ben enjoyed a hugely successful campaign on loan at Elland Road, helping the club win the Championship and earn promotion to the PL.
