Manchester United No. 2 Mike Phelan has hinted that the Red Devils could be closing in on a deal for Jadon Sancho this summer.
The transfer window has been open for a few weeks now, but the speculation linking Sancho with a move to Manchester United has been in the headlines for well over six months now, as he is the top target for the club.
United will continue to push ahead with their pursuit of Sancho in the coming weeks, despite many believing that he will not leave Dortmund yet, and despite the fact that he would cost well over £100 million to acquire.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made just one signing this summer, bringing in Donny van de Beek from Ajax, though could now be close to doubling his tally, as reports on the TalkSport website have claimed United assistant Phelan has followed Sancho on Instagram amid the transfer speculation, potentially showing that a deal is near.
The mercurial attacker recently came out to address a saga which has overshadowed his pre-season campaign at Westfalenstadion, insisting he is not paying attention to anything away from the pitch.
Asked if he wishes ongoing transfer rumours would go away, Sancho told Sport Bible: “No, the media’s the media. They’re always going to try and create a story, but this is how you manage it.
“For me, I just focus on my football. I just want to do what’s best for my team and win titles at the end of the day.
“For me, it’s about doing well for my team and doing well for myself as well.
“When I have a sh*t game I’m just down. I feel sh*t about myself. So I always like having a good game and showing people what I can do.
“I know what I can do, and if I play bad then I’m just p*ssed off with myself. Next game I’ll try and improve on whatever I’ve done wrong.”
Thats what the lad needs to do, stay focused and continue his development as all the speculation could actually go to his head.
It will just be interesting to see where he ends up when he leaves Dortmund.
