Manchester United have broken their teeth in the transfer market this summer. When Old Trafford legends Edwin Van Der Sar and Rio Ferdinand were found joking on twitter – it wasn’t just humor. The former lost a player, the latter welcomed one.

Having said that, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows the team needs more signings. Premier League begins in the third week of this month. With newly promoted Leeds too roping in Valencia star Rodrigo, Manchester United understands that the old rivals are marching on fiercely.

The chief negotiator of the club, Matt Judge has been busy making a mark with the transfers. As per the Times, the Red Devils have inquired about the availability of Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano – a feather in the cap of an £80million double signing.

Manchester United finally have a ray of hope

The Red Devils have been linked with English starlet Jadon Sancho ever since dinosaurs inhabited on Earth! Naturally, with hardly any progress, fans called out Glazers and Woodward for poor progress. However, Ole’s arrival has forced a few changes, including the arrival of star Bruno Fernandes.

In fact, one cannot really blame them too. The club has not had any taste of a league win ever since Sir Alex Fergusson left. Even with such a record, the club continues to be one of the richest clubs in the world. This gives a clear impression – the aim is money and not league titles.

Manchester United, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, have made their first signing as Ajax star Donny Van Beek. Though Real Madrid and Koeman were both interested to sign him, he chose to move to Old Trafford specifically.

Donny Van Beek: United-midfield’s missing puzzle

Last week, we wrote an article about how focusing only on Sancho may backfire against the club’s transfer plans, similar to that of Gareth Bale. That pattern looks to change as the Norwegian went for a quick-fire deal for Donny Van Beek and completed it within a few days.

The Dutchman who stunned Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur with his stellar performances in the Champions League as well as leading the Ajax team to consecutive league titles. Though he did have natural doubts over joining United, a conversation with the manager convinced him to choose Ole’s side.

The deal cost €40 million with add-ons and he wants jersey on.34 as a tribute to Alphie Nouri. De Beek’s father lifted the lid over the move, calling it his “dream come true” moment. He maintained that the 23-year-old himself made the decision about his future.

Upamecano – The French pillar of Nagelsman

Jose Mourinho was the architect of a ridiculously explosive Real Madrid once upon a time. When the same craftsman tried to propel Spurs with Son and Bergwin, one man stopped him like a rock. The 21-year old has attracted interest from multiple clubs, but he chose to grow under Nagelsmann.

The Frenchman has played 2359 minutes this season with 8 clean sheets this season. His discipline, however, needs to improve as he has received a yellow card 295 minutes. In spite of being immensely impressive this season, he has the worst goal concession record of all Leipzig defenders at 1.06 goals per game. (source : FootyStats)

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a partner for Harry Maguire and this young defender fits the bill perfectly. He has a £37.5 million release clause in his contract that will become active after the 2020/21 season.

However, Solskjaer wants to complete the deal this season itself and has offered an additional amount to lure him to Old Trafford. The interesting part remains whether this will drag like Sancho or finish almost ‘in a second’, as in the case of Donny Van Beek.
