Manchester United’s search for a right winger continues and now, Ousmane Dembele is in the focus.

According to Daily Record, Man United have moved in with a proposal to sign the French international on a season long loan but Barcelona want to get rid of him permanently and want a fee of 100 million euros.

The British source have mentioned that the Spanish giants would be willing to let the 23-year-old leave on loan but only if a compulsory purchase clause is included in the deal.

In all fairness, I am surprised by the 100 million euros valuation mentioned by renowned journalist Duncan Castles in his article.

Dembele was a hit in the German Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund but he has been an absolute flop for the Catalan club since joining them three years ago.

The Les Bleus winger has spent majority of his time on the treatment table and in the last campaign, he only managed to appear in 5 La Liga games (3 starts) and scored just a single goal.

With that bad a record, how is he worth 100 million, especially during the ongoing pandemic? Back in May, famous Spanish source Marca reported that Barca are hoping to get 60 million euros from his sale.

As far as the contract is concerned, the former Rennes star’s current deal with the 5-time European champions will expire in 2022 and he is earning (Marca) around 12 million euros annually (£212,000-a-week).

Dembele did return to fitness at the end of the last campaign and was an unused substitute in the 8-2 Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich.

Barcelona will kick start their 20-21 league campaign at the weekend and it will be intriguing to see if Ronald Koeman would deploy the Frenchman in his starting XI vs Villareal.

In your view, should Man Utd secure the signing of highly injury prone Ousmane Dembele?
