Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand says he wants the Red Devils to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish this summer transfer market regardless of whether Paul Pogba departs Old Trafford.

The England international attracted attention from United last summer but the Villa’s £75 million valuation of the midfielder ended talks.

However, Jack’s value has arguably risen since as the midfielder has been his side’s best player again this season, producing a number of scintillating displays.

United eventually decided against a swoop for Grealish last summer and the star ended up signing a fresh five-year deal at Villa Park.

However, United have been linked with reviving their interest in the 25-year-old, particularly as Paul Pogba looks set to quit the club at the end of the season.

Ferdinand thinks Grealish should be of interest to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regardless of Paul’s future.

‘I don’t care if Pogba goes or not, Grealish is my man!’ Rio told the FIVE YouTube channel.

‘Can you imagine if you had McTominay holding and Pogba alongside Grealish and Fernandes. Imagine that man! I’m licking my lips right now.

‘Listen, he’s an Aston Villa player. If I’m a manager of a top, top team in England, I don’t allow him to stay there anymore, I take him!’

His valuation is likely to be around £100 million now and the Villa are in a stronger position to keep the key man given the length of his deal and the club’s rise up the league.

Paul has 18 months to run on his contract at the club and his agent, Mino Raiola, says he’s ‘unhappy’ at the club.

The 20-times English champions are likely to listen to proposals for him this summer to avoid losing the Frenchman on a free in 2022.
