If reports in the media are anything to go by then Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to strengthen his central defense and for that, he is looking to lure a top star in the form of Kalidou Koulibaly.

According to Marca, the Norwegian manager has wanted to lure the Senegalese international in the past and he stills wants Man Utd to secure his signing.

The well-known Spanish media outlet have mentioned that Napoli manager Gattuso would not want to lose his prized asset.

Koulibaly is one of the best central defenders in the world and he still has a long term contract with the Naples based side. Therefore, he is going to cost a lot.

Earlier this month, transfer specialist, Jim White, revealed that Napoli president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, would only allow the 29-year-old star to leave if he receives an enormous offer of £100million (talkSPORT).

This means that Man Utd would have to break their transfer record to hire the services of the £103,000-a-week star (La Republlica).

In the first few months of this season, United conceded goals on regular basis but recently, they have been brilliant at the back. In the last 6 Premier League outings, the Red Devils have only let in 2 goals and kept 4 clean sheets.

It must be remembered that under Solskjaer, the Old Trafford club have already invested a lot to strengthen the back-line. The likes of Wan-Bissaka (RB) and Maguire (CB) arrived in the summer of 2019, on the other hand, last summer, Ole secured the signature of Alex Telles (LB) from Porto.

A world class player like Kalidou Koulibaly, who is captain of the Senegal team, would further strengthen things at the back but right now, his signing is not really needed.

Instead, Man Utd should look to reinforce their right wing position, something that they failed to do last summer.
