Diogo Dalot has confirmed his ambitions to return from his loan stint at AC Milan and prove himself to Manchester United and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and says it was a ‘bittersweet feeling’ making a transfer away from Old Trafford last summer.

Jose Mourinho described Diogo as the best young full-back in Europe when he signed for United from Porto back in 2018 but the 21-year-old star has struggled for form and fitness at Old Trafford.

However, He has played a key role in the Rossoneri’s success at the start of this campaign and the Serie A giants are already exploring a permanent deal for the Portuguese ace when his loan agreement comes to an end in June.

However, he made no secret of his desire to come back to the Red Devils and put his previous struggles behind him.

Quizzed whether he wishes to return to the club to show the ‘real Dalot’, he told Portuguese outlet Record:

‘Of course, the feeling is a little deeper, more because I didn’t have the time I liked physically.

‘I had great moments at United. I played very important games for me and the team.

‘I left with a bit of a bittersweet feeling for not being physically available for all those games I lost due to injury but it is what it is.

‘I wouldn’t change anything because what I learned was very important for my future and how I am now. I don’t regret it or look back with disappointment.’
