Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Getafe over a potential move for midfielder Mauro Arambarri.

Having secured the future of centre-forward Edinson Cavani for another year, United are poised to strengthen other areas of their team ahead of next campaign with a new centre-half and a right wide attacker thought to be high up on their list of priorities.

United are also reportedly considering bolstering in midfield with AS reporting serious interest from Old Trafford in Mauro.

United have informed the Spanish club of their interest ahead of the summer transfer market with AS adding the Uruguayan star fits the profile of player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to add to his roster.

Arambarri has a release clause of €25 million with Atletico Madrid also keen on the player. The 25-year-old has featured in 34 matches for Getafe this season, scoring three goals.

The Red Devils have also been linked with a swoop for West Ham United star Declan Rice heading into the summer with club legend Roy Keane recently highlighting the need for some serious upgrades on current options Fred and Scott McTominay.

‘I just look at the performance tonight of the two midfielders. McTominay is a good honest player, and they’ve got Fred,’ he told Sky Sports after the duo struggled in Wednesday’s 4-2 defeat to Liverpool.

‘As long as those two players are playing in midfield for Manchester United, they will not be winning any big trophies.’
