Porto are keen on signing Jesse Lingard on a season-long loan from Manchester United, reports say.

While the transfer market is closed for PL outfits, it remains open in Portugal until October 25th. Therefore, stars can still move to teams in that league.

Porto and Manchester United have already done business this week, with Alex Telles transferring to Old Trafford on deadline day.

However, contact between the two parties may not have stopped there, as according to ESPN, the Dragons are keen on Lingard.

The English star has fallen down the pecking order in the latest years at United and he only scored one PL goal last season, and has;t featured at all in the current top flight campaign thus far.

There may be a chance for Jesse to revive his career abroad, though. While links with a switch to Italy over the summer never materialised, the midfielder could still end up in Portugal.

ESPN‘s Rob Dawson suggests Liga NOS heavyweights are “showing interest” in Lingard, with a loan deal most likely.

The 27-year-old’s deal at Old Trafford expires next year, but United can extend it by a further year.

In other news, Manchester United allegedly turned down the chance to land Edinson Cavani in 2013, seven years before he eventually signed for the club.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward was brought in on a free transfer on the last day of the transfer market and has since been handed the iconic number seven shirt, previously worn by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and George Best.

However, The Athletic claims that United were close to landing him seven years ago following a prolific stint with Napoli.
