Arsenal negotiating with Wolves to sign Manchester United target Ruben Neves
According to Portuguese publication Record (h/t Express), Manchester United may risk falling behind arch-rivals Arsenal in the race to sign Ruben Neves, with the Gunners already in talks over a move.
Neves has been a revelation since making the move to Wolves from FC Porto in the summer of 2017. Having helped them to promotion in his debut season, the Portuguese has gone on to establish himself as a solid performer in the Premier League over the past three years.
Neves’ rise in prominence at the Molineux has seemingly landed him on Manchester United’s radar, with Eurosport journalist Dean Jones telling the Football Terrace Podcast (h/t Express) that the Red Devils were in discussions over a move for the 24-year-old.
Manchester United need a new central midfielder this summer in order to replace the ageing Nemanja Matic. With Paul Pogba also in the final year of his contract, it makes sense for the 20-time English champions to look at prospective additions to the midfield department. Neves given his proven pedigree in the PL and age, becomes a viable target.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer & co. might now need to add quickly as Arsenal seem to have stolen a march on them in pursuit of Neves. As per the report, the north Londoners have already started negotiating with Wolves over a summer move for the former FC Porto man.
Manchester United are in the fray for Wolves star Ruben Neves in the summer transfer window.
