TRANSFER UPDATE: Manchester United have to move fast to secure services of Bayern Munich solid man

Real Madrid have reportedly joined Manchester United in the hunt for Leon Goretzka.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a great summer thus far with the signing of forward Jadon Sancho and the imminent arrival of defender Raphael Varane, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not satisfied there.

A new midfielder is also high on the head coach’s wishlist. Declan Rice has been their top target, but the club are likely to be outpriced by West Ham this transfer window and have been linked with a host of alternatives.

An interesting figure to emerge as a possible option is Bayern Munich’s  Goretzka, who is also in the final year of his deal and is yet to agree on an extension.

It’s speculated that the all-around midfielder is unhappy with the salary he has been offered by Die Roten and that both sides remain in deadlock — leaving the possibility that Leon could move on a free transfer next year.

United have allegedly been linked with a swoop for the 26-year-old if Goretzka should become a free agent but, according to AS, Los Blancos would also be interested.

It’s reported that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are ‘attentive’ to Goretzka’s situation and hope to snap him up for nothing in 12 months time, much like the club did this summer with David Alaba.
