This week Record reported it is unlikely a club will spend €70 million on Sporting’s Nuno Mendes this summer, so the Lisbon outfit will wait until the January transfer market.

Manchester United, Real Madrid and Manchester City were all named as keen, and the same three teams are mentioned in a fresh report from O Jogo.

The outlet state the trio will have their scouting departments watch the 18-year-old Portuguese ace during UEFA Euro 2020, as they consider whether to take the plunge in the summer.

The Red Devils and the Citizens are asking themselves is it worth investing more than €50 million on the player.

City are sa9d to be best placed to land Mendes, partly because the club could use Pedro Porro in a deal, so Pep Guardiola’s side could pay €50-55m and add the Spaniard.

Over at Old Trafford, there is interest but Nuno isn’t a priority given they have Luke Shaw and Alex Telles, with investment somewhere else more important.

Real Madrid are not actively searching for a left-back either, and there are doubts over the Spanish heavyweights’ finances.

Considering all of that, there is a good chance Nuno Mendes will not be moving in the current window, and the Lions would then expect interest to become more serious ahead of future markets.
