Manchester United and Liverpool are set to go head to head for Leeds United attacker Raphinha, according to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari on Twitter.

The 24-year-old Brazilian star arrived at Elland Road in the summer transfer market of 2020 and has since established himself as a key player.

He has so far featured in 28 games, scoring seven goals and assists apiece.

The aforementioned sides are not the only clubs in the fray. However, they appear to be leading the hunt for Raphinha.

The Reds have already made their interest known but may lack the necessary funds to see the transfer through.

Primarily a right winger, Raphinha is also capable of playing on the left flank. United could do with a right wide attacker and failed to sign one last summer.

Apart from Liverpool, the Red Devils’ rivalry with Leeds could also play a factor in their pursuit of the player.

One advantage United could have is the star’s relationship with Bruno Fernandes. Both of them spent the 2018/19 term together at Sporting CP.

They formed a brilliant understanding en route to racking up 39 goals and 23 assists combined. The prospect of both players replicating the same at the Theatre of Dreams is an enticing thought.

Speaking to the press, Bruno revealed that the Whites man was a player who left an impression on him both on and off the field while at Sporting.

Their partnership at the Jose Alvalade Stadium outfit may not have lasted long, but whether a reunion at United beckons remains to be seen.
