Real Madrid have reportedly accepted that French centre-back Raphael Varane wants to depart from the club this summer, with the Spanish giants now giving the green light for the defender to hold talks with Man United.
The Red Devils are believed to have identified France international as their top transfer target during this summer’s transfer window.
A recent report suggested that Los Blancos were planning to make it tough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to secure the services of the 28-year-old ahead of the 2021-22 season.
However, according to Marca, the La Liga heavyweights have now given their approval for the World Cup winning defender’s agent to enter into talks with the Red Devils over a move to Old Trafford.
The report suggests that Real Madrid have offered Varane – out of deal next June – the chance to sign a fresh contract, however, he has made it clear that he wants to seek pastures new.
The La Liga outfit are believed to be willing to accept an offer in the region of £43m, which is not believed to be an issue for Man United, despite the team already agreeing to pay over £70m for Jadon Sancho.
