Manchester United have been trying to sign a quality right winger for quite some time but so far, Solskjaer has not managed to achieve that objective.
In the summer, the likes of Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele were linked but the duo ended up staying with their respective clubs. If the latest reports are anything to go by then Pedro Goncalvez, better known as Pote, is on the Red Devils’ radar.
According to Record Man Utd have made contact to sign the 22-year-old winger, who has been in top class form since joining the Lions from Wolves in the summer.
The Portuguese outlet have claimed that the Old Trafford outfit face competition from arch rivals Liverpool, who have also asked to lure the player this month.
Record state that Sporting CP have no plans of selling their star attacker this month unless the clause of £53million is activated.
In the current campaign, so far, Pote has scored 12 goals in 13 league appearances and his top performances have helped Sporting maintain top spot in the Primeira Liga.
At the moment, they have a 4 point lead over reigning champions Porto after 15 games.
Man Utd wasted several chances to earn all three points vs Arsenal last night and now, they are 3 points behind Man City, who have a game in hand as well. Therefore, Solskjaer really needs to improve the squad before deadline to push for the Premier League title.
The right wing position still needs a regular starter and Pote could be a top addition. He has been able to replace Fernandes at Sporting and it will be intriguing to see how well he does at Old Trafford if he does end up securing a move.
