According to La Repubblica (via Roma News), Man Utd have offered the Netherlands star to sign Nicolo Zaniolo from AS Roma.

The Italian source have claimed that the Giallorossi would not be able to afford the former Eredivisie star’s wages if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

As it stands, it is likely that they will not take any part in the Europe’s elite competition next season. They were smacked 6-2 in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final by Man Utd last night. Moreover, with 5 Serie A fixtures left, they are 11 points behind Juventus, who currently occupy the final CL qualification position.

In the presence of Bruno Fernandes, Van de Beek was always going to stay on the bench more often than not and so far, he has only started 2 games in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He was a regular starter at Ajax and for the national team but things have changed now.

The 24-year-old needs to play regular first team football and for that, he must leave Old Trafford.

Zaniolo is a rising star of Italian football. The Roma playmaker is naturally a CAM but he can also effectively play on the right wing, a position that Ole needs to reinforce this summer.

Back in 2019, the Azzurri star was in top form and his market value reached at around 80 million euros (Leggo). However, due to a serious ligament injury, he has not managed to play a single game this season.

Earlier this month, Il Messagero reported that due to the persistent fitness issues and the losses suffered because of the pandemic, his valuation has dropped down to just 30 million euros (£26million). Zaniolo has proved to be brilliant when fit but keeping in view his injury history, I think Man Utd should not move to sign him. What do you think?
