Sven Botman has welcomed the current rumours surrounding his future, with the Lille defender open to make the next step in his career.
The 21-year-old was heavily linked with the Merseyside Reds in January, while a recent report suggested that Manchester United had identified him as a defensive partner for Harry Maguire..
Botman has said that it is “a good compliment” to be rumoured with some of Europe’s biggest teams and has refused to rule out a move away from his Ligue 1 club in the upcoming market.
“It is a good compliment when you hear these clubs are interested,” Botman told The Athletic. “I’m lying if I say it’s not interesting me – it’s the first time such big clubs are linked to me – but it was early days because in January I was only at Lille for half a season.
“It was nice to hear but I was focusing on Lille and I’m still doing this. After the season I will enjoy a vacation and see what happens next.”
The Dutchman has only joined Lille from Dutch giants Ajax last July, signing a five-year deal with the Ligue 1 team, and he has played 45 games in all competitions this season.
