Reports have claimed Manchester United are STILL in the running for Kalidou Koulibaly, according to claims in Italy.
United were once again in the transfer headlines on a daily basis about possible arrivals and possible departures, as it seemed that everyone of their players were linked with a move away, while every player was linked with a move London.
And one name that was high up on the shopping list of United boss is that of Kouliably, who is easily regarded as one of the finest central defenders in Seria A, and around Europe.
Koulibaly has been outstanding for Napoli over the past few seasons and his performances has attracted all sorts of interest from the games biggest clubs, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and even Barcelona all joining United in the chase for the defenders signature.
However, his £85million transfer fee remains a stumbling block, and is likely to be significantly lower after coronavirus, especially as he looks almost certain to leave the Italian giants.
Now Niccolo Ceccarini has come out and claimed that Manchester United are still in the running to try and sign the powerhouse in the transfer window, he said via Tuttomercatoweb: “Koulibaly has been clear for some time.
“Napoli evaluates him at 100 million, but today it is very difficult to bring home such a figure.
“For him, a future in the Premier League is possible. Manchester United is always in the running, but Liverpool and Tottenham have also recently joined.
“It is clear that in case of farewell, Napoli would sign another central defender.”
Strong, classy and composed, the 28-year-old is rightly considered world-class and would be a major statement of intent from Solskjaer in his quest to get the club back challenging for more than a top four spot.
If Solskjaer is to sign big time players, then he should start with the signing of Koulibaly as he could be the leader that the club are seeking, especially as they need to add a bit more experience to that back-line.
