Norwich City believe they can allocate as much as £35m by selling Manchester United defensive target Max Aarons this summer, having snubbed a bid of around £20 million from Serie A giants Roma.

The England youth international had been expected to depart Carrow Road last summer following the Canaries’ relegation but the board managed to keep the 21-year-old ace following an impressive season in the top-flight.

Bayern Munich have registered interest in Aarons and Norwich chief Stuart Webber hinted at interest from Die Roten earlier this year.

‘The only interest was in Max. No other players,’ said the sporting director. ‘We decided not to act on that interest, with Max’s blessing I must add, because it was from abroad and wouldn’t have been quite right for him and definitely wasn’t right for us at that time. It was about keeping the squad together.’

However, while Max had been keen to stay, the club are realistic about their chances of keeping the player even if they manage promotion back to the PL.

The Sun claim the Championship outfit have rejected a £20 million offer from Roma and that they’ll wait until the summer before putting Max on the open market.

They believe they can get as much as £35 million for the full-back and Max’s desire to stay in England could put the Red Devils at the front of the queue.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign a competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as he is convinced that Luke Shaw’s form this campaign is down to the presence of the Brazil international Alex Telles since his arrival from Porto.

Max is also more adept in forward roles, which is an area of Aaron’s game that United are keen to improve.
