Manchester United are confident of signing former Manchester City goal-machine Charlie McNeill.
The 16-year-old, who scored 600 goals at youth level for City, is a free agent after he rejected a contract offer.
He confirmed on Instagram last month that he was leaving the Sky Blues, writing: “It’s been such a pleasure to play with some amazing players and I’ve made some amazing friends too. Thanks to all the staff and players for helping me develop as a player and also as a person.”
And the Daily Mailhas claimed United believe they can persuade McNeill to move across the city.
Due to McNeill’s age, the two clubs will have to negotiate a compensation fee or the case will go in front of a tribunal.
City are hoping to include a number of performance-related clauses, but United are not budging.
Wolves and Leeds United are also interested in McNeill.
