MANCHESTER UNITED ARE KEEN TO SIGN VAN DE BEEK FROM AJAX BUT MADRID LEADING THE RACE IN HIS SIGNATURE.
Van De Beek has been a star performer for Ajax this season. The player is growing a deadly reputation in the midfield. He was also a crucial part of Ajax’s Champions League run in the last season.
The player in the 18-19 season was in sensational form. He had 17 goals and 13 assists in the whole campaign. Along with De Ligt, Frankie De Jong, Van De Beek was another player who was heavily rumored to move. But there was an agreement between the player and the club to stay with Ajax for another season.
And it’s been another great season for him. He has 10 goals and 11 assists in all competitions. Due to the cancellation of the Eredivisie, his numbers are little less than last season. But his dominance has been the same.
Real Madrid was hugely impressed by his performances against them in the Champions League Semi-Final. The Los Blancos were looking to bring the player to the Bernabeu. Modric and Kroos are both aging and Van De Beek would be a fine replacement for them.
Zidane tried to sign the player in the previous season too. But Real are supposedly very close to signing him. According to Express, Madrid had made an offer to Ajax for the 23-year-old. Madrid’s offer was £44.5 million with a further £4.5 million in bonuses.
Only medical and the transfer of money was left. But a new report from Sport Witness says that Real Madrid won’t be making any signings this season. This could open up the door for Manchester United to try and make a move for him.
Man United also have shown interest in the Dutch International. He is being scouted by Ole Gunner Solskjaer. Edvin Van Der Saar is at the helm of Ajax. This could help out in United’s case.
But he has made it clear that the player will not be available for cheap. And there will be no discounts for the player. Ajax wants at least a figure of around £40 million for Van De Beek.
However if United are serious they will have to act swiftly. Because Madrid is way ahead of them. The deal was very close to completion for Madrid. Although for the time being, it looks like the club might have pulled the plug on it.
But the Spanish outfit is still favorites for the Dutchman. Should they renew their interest, Madrid will most likely be his final destination. Also United signed Bruno Fernandes in the January window. And Van De Beek would be a very similar kind of player.
But he certainly has the talent to lift the atmosphere at Old Trafford. According to reports from the Express, Ajax is already looking for a replacement for him. The 27-year-old has 13 goals and 12 assists in 71 appearances for Werder Bremen.
Werder Bremen’s Davy Klaassen is one of the club’s potential targets. The midfielder had a failed run with Everton but found his form again with Werder Bremen. He has the potential to replace Van De Beek, at least that’s what Ajax think.
