Red Devils are confident of agreeing on a fee with Borussia Dortmund when and if the club settles personal terms with Jadon Sancho. The German club set a deadline of August 10th for the Red Devils to sign England international and the Bundesliga giants’ £108m valuation was seen as the main stumbling block for a deal to sign the forward.

However, to claim that the main problem is the personal terms with Jadon and the agent fees for his representatives. Red Devils have spent big in recent years to sign the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku and the club are now unwilling to make the same mistakes by handing out huge wages that prove problematic down the line.

While Man United are desperate to sign Sancho and believe he is worth the money, they fear that they will encounter problems with other targets and indeed footballers already at the club if they compromise their budget to sign him.

Despite their public stance, BVB have given Red Devils permission to speak to Jadon but until now Man United have been unable to agree on personal terms with the forward. Red Devils top earner is De Gea on £375,000-a-week and the rest of the squad will see their salary increase by 25% this campaign as they regained a place in the UCL.

It means the club must carefully watch their outgoings, particularly given the financial effects of the covid. The Red Devils lose nearly £5m with every home game that they play in which spectators are not present. A fee had recently been considered the biggest problem but Red Devils are considered about the overall package of the deal spiralling out of control.
