Borussia Dortmund has cleared their position on selling star player Jadon Sancho which has been frustrating for Manchester United management as both parties been failing to match common ground on the transfer fee for the 20-year-old English winger.
Red Devils have already secured the signing of midfield playmaker Van De Beek from Ajax and now looking for further deployment in attack to bring back trophy days at Old Trafford.
According to a Calciomercato report, Serie A champions Juventus are demanding €53million for Costa but Premier League giants value him around €30million. This gap is considerable for further negotiations depending on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s interest in him.
The 29 years old Brazilian has failed to cement his place in the squad since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo two seasons ago. Star players like Paulo Dybala and Federico Bernardeschi have been preferred over Costa on the right side of the attack.
Recent signing Dejas Kulusevski at Turin will also play a major role overvaluation fee of Costa. Costa has also facing injury and fitness issues since his arrival in Italy from Bayern Munich in 2017.
Douglas Costa’s versatility in attack will be a key point for the United move for him. He has pace and dribbling skills to match the opposition’s full-backs on both wings, also can rotate with Bruno Fernandes on the field to build up more attacking play. He will be a perfect match for Solskjaer style of play which has been positively attacking.
Both Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira have struggled to find consistency in wide positions. The signing of Costa will be positive news for Red Devils fans. Mason Greenwood has played and impressed on the right side of the attack at the end of last season.
The arrival of Van De Beek has raised questions of Lingard, Pereira, and Mata in midfield. Juan Mata is past his best and might play a rotational role at United if he decides to stay. Whereas, Lingard and Pereira have a bad season at Old Trafford. Lingard got opportunities by Ole but couldn’t perform.
Douglas Costa is a good option for Ole and his team but his age is a worrying factor. United manager is looking to sign young players and Costa links don’t check that point. So a move seems unlikely for Costa and United might wait for another window if they are not able to sign any young talented winger.
