Man United increasingly confident they can sign versatile striker for £60m this summer: report

Outside of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, Red Devils transfer talk is centred around the possibility of signing a new striker.

Perhaps the name that has been linked with an Old Trafford move the most is Moussa Dembele.

The Frenchman has been in brilliant form since moving to Lyon a couple of summers ago, scoring 22 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions this term.

Well, today’s update in the Dembele saga comes from Express journalist Luke Gardener, who took to Twitter to share his scoop last night…

Apparently, United are ‘increasingly confident’ that they can sign the prolific 23-year-old in a £60million deal this summer.

Furthermore, scouts have watched the striker ‘multiple times’ over the last few months, with the player himself preferring an Old Trafford switch over a Stamford Bridge move.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the £60m fee sounds pretty cheap for a man of Dembele’s talent. He’s also young enough to make a long-term impact at the Theatre of Dreams should the move happen.

What I like most is that Dembele wants a switch to Manchester. We need players who want to wear the badge on their chest with pride, and the former Fulham and Celtic man seems keen on joining the 20-time Premier League champions.

In tandem with his French compatriot Anthony Martial, with Marcus Rashford on the left, Bruno Fernandes and (maybe) Paul Pogba in-behind, this is a team that’ll strike fear into any opponent.

Dembele is my first-choice striker and if this deal happens I’d be absolutely over the moon. Add Jadon Sancho into that mix, too, and this squad is suddenly looking pretty scary.
