Red Devils are interested in signing Jeremie Boga this summer and have made contact with the ex-Chelsea attacker over a deal, according to reports.
Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho stays Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top transfer target but Man United are also monitoring alternative options, with Bundesliga giants valuing the forward at more than £100m.
It appears unlikely although not impossible that Ed Woodward will sanction a Red Devils transfer offer in that region in the post-coronavirus landscape, meaning the club have identified cheaper alternatives. Among them is Jeremie, who left boyhood club Chelsea for Italian club Sassuolo in 2018.
Boga, 23, was rated highly by coaches at London club but just made one Premier League appearance for Chelsea before securing a permanent move away from west London two years ago.
The Ivorian winger is enjoying a productive spell at Sassuolo, scoring 11 goals in 54 Serie A games, but is desperate to play in either the Champions League or Europa League next campaign. It is claimed Red Devils currently fifth in the PL have approached Jeremie to discuss a move, with the player ‘interested’ in the project at Theatre of Dreams.
Earlier this week, Solskjaer hinted Man United were set to spend big in the transfer market this summer. ‘Man City and Liverpool, the last couple of seasons, have put the standard where it should be to win the league,’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.
‘We’ve developed over the season and now we had a spell of 12 unbeaten and now you add Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford to that and you’re thinking, “Yeah, we’re not too far away” and I’m very happy with the squad.’
