France Football claim Manchester United are pondering whether to pay €3 million for Willy Kambwala after Sochaux told the Premier League giants that’s the amount required for a transfer. In July, Sport Witness covered earlier claims from France which claimed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had made a first bid for the 15-year-old.
That offer was understood to be less than €1 million, so it’s quite a jump to what is now being requested. At the time it was reported that Sochaux wanted at least double for the ace, and if they didn’t get it then the France youth international defender would be staying where he is, considering he still has two years left on his contract.
Having been told about the €3 million price-tag, Manchester United hierarchy have not yet followed up their reported interest, suggesting the club are not keen to pay such a price. They now have the option of walking away or testing just how strong the French outfit’s stance is. There’s every chance a higher bid than the first one is made, but not quite getting to €3 million.
Meantime, pundit Graeme Souness has stated that Barcelona legend Lionel Messi could “easily” end up at Manchester United this transfer window.
Referring to Blaugrana’s 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich last week, Souness told The Times:“Lionel Messi looked like a man who has had enough of carrying that team. Without him they wouldn’t even be good enough to qualify for the Champions League.
“This would be the perfect week to put a bid in for the 33-year-old Argentinian and I could easily see him playing in Manchester – at either United or City.”
