Manchester United have offered goalkeeper Dean Henderson a £100,000 per-week deal to secure his long-term future at the club, according to reports.
The 23-year-old has impressed in his two seasons on loan at Sheffield United, helping the Blades to Championship promotion and a ninth-placed finish in the Premier League.
Despite only signing a £60,000 per-week deal last year, The Sun report that the stopper is close to penning a four-year contract – with an option of a further 12 months – worth over £20million.
It’s claimed Henderson’s representatives have been in talks with the Red Devils about the deal over a number of weeks.
This means that it seems Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the Englishman to battle it out with David De Gea to be the club’s long-term number 1.
De Gea, 29, has been the club’s first-choice ever since signing from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
But a number of high-profile errors over the past couple of seasons coupled with Henderson’s form, could spark a real battle for a place between the sticks at Old Trafford.
