Manchester United have entered the race for promising Schakle centre-back Ozan Kabak, with Liverpool and RB Leipzig also showing a strong interest in the Turkey international.

The 20-year-old defender is likely to be available for around £25 million, with the Bundesliga outfit previously asking for around £40 million, but reducing their asking price amid financial issues.

The Daily Mail report that United have been alerted to the star’s progress and see him as a possible long-term partner for Harry Maguire at the back.

After making his debut for Galatasaray as an 18-year-old ace, the defender has already moved twice, moving to Stuttgart in January 2019, before Die Knappen activated a €15 million exit clause in June of the same year, following the defender claiming award of Bundesliga Rookie of the Year in just six months.

Ozan has been a regular in the side since then and scored three goals last season from defence, attracting plenty of attention from across the continent and picking up seven caps for Turkey since his debut last year.

Schalke chief Jochen Schneider said in September that they had no plans to sell Ozan this season, although that could change by the summer or if a significant bid comes in.

‘Last year, we managed to sign Ozan, who is one of the biggest talents in Europe at his position, and we are extremely happy about that,’ Jochen told a press conference.

‘Ozan is a great player and a wonderful person. We are delighted that he is with us. Our fans can be reassured that Ozan will not leave.’
