Manchester United have been interested in James Rodriguez for a very long time and once again the Colombian international is in the focus.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then Man Utd are prepared to press to finally sign the Real Madrid playmaker, who could be available for cheap in the summer.

According to Marca, the player’s contract with the Spanish giants will expire next year and he has mostly been out of the starting XI this term, therefore, the Los Blancos could be forced to sell Rodriguez for a fee of around 20 to 25 million euros.

The famous Spanish media outlet claim that Man Utd and other Premier League clubs like Everton, Arsenal and Wolves are willing to make an effort to secure his signing.

Last month, The Sun exclusively reported that the 28-year-old has been admired by United for a long time and he could be offered to the PL giants because Real Madrid want to get rid of his mammoth wages worth £250,000-a-week.

Should Soksjhaer splash the cash to get his signing done? I do not think so.

The 76-capped international has been impressive for his country but at club level, he has not been able to perform consistently since leaving Monaco.

Zinade never utilized him on regular basis at the Bernabeu and he was not even consistent on loan with Bayern Munich, who decided against signing him on permanent basis.

Moreover, the South American playmaker has been highly injury prone in the past two years. Rodriguez was out for 16 games in the 2018-19 season with the German champions and this term, he has already missed 18 games due to fitness concerns (Transfermarkt).

In all competitions, the former Porto star has only managed to start just 8 times for the 13-time European Champions. It is evident that the Colombian is past his best and therefore, Solskjaer, who has mostly focused on promoting the youth at Old Trafford, should not hire his services.
