Villarreal and Spain defender Pau Torres has been pinpointed by Manchester United as a potential January signing.
The 23-year-old star has been outstanding for his side after returning from an impressive loan spell with Malaga, and Chelsea were considering a summer move for the Spanish centre-half before deciding to sign Thiago Silva.
Now, according to the Daily Express, Pau is at the top of a five-man centre back wishlist drawn up by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co.
The Norwegian knows that his team is good, but Ole needs to add to that back-line in order to carry on his challenges for the PL title, so even though he’d cost some serious money, Pau is a player that they are big fans of.
Chelsea are in the headlines on a regular basis with constant reports that the club are talking to potential targets about a January transfer to Stamford Bridge, especially as under-fire head coach Frank Lampard knows that the defence needs to be improved.
The Blues back-line may have improved over the past one year, but they have already shipped too many goals in the division this season, and the manager is keen to sign a few players that will come in and make the back-line even better for a Premier League challenge, with Pau on the shopping list.
So it’ll be very interesting to see if the Red Devils do make a move for the man and beat off the likes of the Blues, who will have more money to play with in the quest to also challenge for that PL title.
