Former Manchester United defender Fabio da Silva has urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to secure services of England international star Kieran Trippier this summer.

The 20-times English champions are believed to be interested in recruiting a right-back and have previously been rumoured with the Atletico Madrid star.

Fabio, who spent six years at Old Trafford between 2008 an 2014, believes that the securing the services of Trippier could even bring the best out of their main right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

“If you see how Luke Shaw is doing this season, I think it’s the best season he’s been having for so long at Man United,” Fabio told the Manchester Evening News.

“Alex Telles has made him improve, someone to say, ‘if you’re not playing well, if you’re not concentrating, working hard, you’re going to lose your place’.

“This definitely makes you play better, so for Wan-Bissaka if they bring in a good right-back, you’re going to help him to improve, 100%. If you play every game, you have no competition and you can start to get in a comfort zone, it’s not good for you.”

Trippier, who spent over ten years with the academy at the Citizens, has played 20 games in all competitions for the La Liga giants this campaign, providing five assists in the process.
