Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has reiterated that Kalidou Koulibaly’s asking price stay at £81m with Man Utd and Liverpool both interested to sign him.

With Napoli having missed out on Champions League spot and already finalised the big-money addition of Lille’s forward Victor Osimhen, there are the reports that they are open to parting ways with Senegalese international centre-back.

However, De Laurentiis has dropped a hint that the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United will not be able to secure the services of the Senegal international centre-back for a cut-price fee despite lack of Europe’s most elite competition.

Speaking to Sky Italia, De Laurentiis said: “Kalidou is a wonderful person and of course it’d be sad to lose him. Everything has a time and a place, even when it comes to going our separate ways.

“Having said that, we don’t have €90m (£81m) on the table and in any case, it takes two to separate.”

The 29-year-old centre-back still has three years left on his contract with the Italian giants and it gives them a perfect position to negotiate with the interested teams about his transfer fee.

Both Liverpool and Man Utd will be in the market for defensive reinforcements and Koulibaly has been on top of their radar.
