Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to reinforce his squad and build on an already impressive foundation.

Ed Woodward, who is still under scrutiny at Old Trafford, will no doubt do his best to ensure the Norwegian gets his desired targets.

But the club chief must be cautious. Far too often in the past Ed Woodward has spent money carelessly and were quick to splash the cash on players who simply did not warrant it.

In such a volatile market, Ed Woodward cannot afford to make the same mistake.

A target who has been heavily linked with the club is Jack Grealish. The Aston Villa midfielder has been a revelation in the Premier League this season and has singlehandedly kept his boyhood club in the division.

However, Villa are rumoured to be demanding a whopping £80 million from the Red Devils for Jack Grealish’s services.

That is an extortionate sum and hugely inflated.

Fortunately, unlike in previous years where Ed Woodward would have simply coughed up the sum without question, it seems the United chief has finally changed his tact.

According to a report by the Daily Express, Woodward has submitted a bid for Jack Grealish but only worth £45 million.

The figure is still a high one in the current market, however, £45 million seems like a more reasonable price to pay for the services of Jack Grealish.

The Aston Villa midfielder is undoubtedly a huge talent and he could thrive at Old Trafford.
