According to breaking reports, Manchester United miss out on signing Thiago Alcantara despite agreeing personal terms. Thiago is set to join arch-rivals (and favourites for the deal) Liverpool.
Manchester United are set to miss out on yet another transfer as Thiago Alcantara is set to join Liverpool imminently.
According to multiple reports Thiago Alcantara is set to join arch-rivals Liverpool in a deal worth £27m.It was said yesterday by Bayern Journalist Christian Falk, that Bayern Munich were expecting a bid from Manchester United, and Liverpool were struggling to finance the deal as they needed to sell Wijnaldum beforehand.
Thiago Alcantara will be an excellent signing to anyone who manages to complete the deal, in this case Liverpool. Many believed that if he went to Liverpool it could tip the balance in the Premier League back in their favour: Well it’s happening, so we’ll see if they were correct.
The Bayern Munich midfielder was very close to coming to Manchester United in 2013. Despite club and player wanting the deal to happen, it was vetoed by then-manager David Moyes as he preferred to sign Marouane Fellaini.
The chances of Manchester United completing this deal were slim at best. However, only days ago the odds slashed on the potential transfer to make United favourites. This raised the hopes of the United fan base (including yours truly), only for those hopes to be ‘slashed’ this morning.
