Manchester United could be offered a swap-deal by Inter Milan. According to the Manchester Evening News, United could get Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic in exchange for United defender Chris Smalling.
They also report that this deal will only go through if Paris Saint Germain move for Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar.
PSG are heavily linked with Skriniar and Inter wants at least €50m
Ivan Perisic was an influential part of Bayern Munich’s treble-winning team last season. His performances for Bayern on-loan from Inter Milan have brought him back to United’s radar as an alternative for Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
The arrival of Leroy Sane to Bayern from Man City have curtailed Perisic’s chances of a future in Germany. The Bavarians are not making the move permanent.
Sancho has been United’s top priority this summer, but a deal for the winger is slowly dying.
United are not keen on giving up their pursuit of Sancho but have started looking for alternatives. Ivan Perisic, Gareth Bale and Douglas Costa feature on that list.
The other important part of the deal is United defender Chris Smalling. The Englishman was deemed surplus to requirements by OGS and was sent on a season-long loan to AS Roma in the Serie A.
His performances for Paulo Fonseca’s side have brought him laurels from the Italian Media, the attention of Inter manager Antonio Conte. Smalling has been linked to a move back to AS Roma on a permanent deal all summer, but the differences in the transfer fee between the clubs have not made it possible.
OGS would like to get a new winger before the transfer window closes down. United have looked in the Serie A for a new winger before and had a bid for Juventus winger Douglas Costa rejected.
This entire swap-deal is a long shot in the making and hinges entirely on PSG making a move for Inter center-back Milan Skriniar.
