Manchester United are one of three English outfits reportedly keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon starlet Joelson Fernandes – and the club are not deterred by the player’s high release clause.
He has just four senior appearances to his name for the Lions but has already been drawing interest from elsewhere.
Arsenal were particularly keen to land him last summer, while his father stated Liverpool had held meetings over a possible transfer.
Ultimately, the attacker stayed in the capital, where Joelson is under contract until 2023. However, as Fernandes hopes for more of a breakthrough into senior team football, he could end up moving somewhere else.
According to Record, via Sport Witness, the Red Devils are among the clubs keen on Joelson, who has a €60m buy-out clause. This hasn’t put United off and they’re continuing to monitor his development.
At present, it seems unlikely he will make a move this summer. He’s expecting to be given more of a chance at Jose Alvalade Stadium in the upcoming campaign and hopes to feature in the UEFA Champions League as well.
United, meantime, have confirmed the arrival of Jadon Sancho to strengthen out wide this summer. Fernandes usually plays on the opposite wing, so could complement him in future, but it looks like this is one for the future.
