Harry Maguire’s long-term future at Manchester United is reportedly increasingly in doubt with the Red Devils planning to sign a world-class successor centre-back in the summer.

The 28-year-old Englishman has endured a difficult campaign with his form noticeably dipping after returning from his country’s Euro 2020 campaign, while reports last week claimed his teammates have been questioning the player’s continued presence in the team.

When fit, Harry has always been in the first XI but stars have been ‘privately airing grievances’ and are perplexed by his undroppable status.

But while he may have the support of Ralf Rangnick, the Daily Mail state that the club’s board are drawing up plans to bring in a new defender to partner the France international Raphael Varane.

A world-class centre-half is high on the side’s list of priorities for the summer, with United’s football director John Murtough hatching transfer plans irrespective of who the new head coach will be.

The Mail’s report also says that Maguire has upset a host of his teammates this campaign by openly blaming them on the field for making mistakes.

He has also been critical of several players in the media in post-match interviews, something which hasn’t gone down at all well considering the skipper’s own poor form.
